First outing of 2025! Great job, everyone! We kicked things off at MacRitchie Reservoir, crossed the TreeTop Walk, hiked to Bukit Timah Hill, climbed to its summit, and wrapped up at the base—all in one go!
Post-hike, we did a quick poll: the postgrads and postdocs voted for more hiking over lab, while most undergrads said they'd rather be back in the lab than on the trail.
Still wondering what life experiences led to those choices. 🤔
Congratulations to Dr. Boong Siew Kheng on earning her doctorate!
She was my 开山大弟子 — the very first Ph.D. student of the Lee-Search Lab — and played a pivotal role in building it from the ground up. Being the first is never easy. There were no established protocols, no senior lab members to consult, no prior data to rely on — and to top it off, my own training wasn’t even in catalysis, so we were truly starting from zero. Yet, Siew Kheng persevered. Her resilience and dedication laid the foundation for what the group has become today. I’m incredibly proud of all she has accomplished. (July 2025)
